Some of us are watching Glee through a musical theater lens where people burst into song and we don’t think about it too hard.

Some of us are watching it through a magical realism lens where Brittany, Becky, Puck are changelings; Kurt is an apprentice magician Death’s Beloved; Dalton is a dark and terrible faerie kingdom; and Blaine is a boy returned to our world after being snatched as a child.

Some of us are watching an after-school special, and wondering why we aren’t being given clearer messages about respecting people who are different than us and having a healthy body image.

Some of us are watching a soap opera and are only here for makeouts, unplanned pregnancies, and angst.

There is no right answer. You do not need to be reassured because you do not need to worry. The author is dead, and whatever truth you experience in fiction is valid.
